School ParliamentPretty Beach has a School Parliament that is run by the School Captains and Vice Captains. Parliament enables students to develop leadership skills and teamwork skills and become active participants, promoting the core value Democracy. All Year 6 students take on a role of ministers and have a portfolio with specific duties. School Parliament meets in the library and includes 2 class representatives from Years 2-5. Students hold class discussions on issues of importance and concern, and then they bring these to the Parliament to have their concerns addressed. Motions addressed to the speaker are then debated and voted on and then proposed to the Principal. The Parliament raises funds throughout the year to purchase items that will assist in student learning such as sports equipment and games for the library. Parliamentary roles include Education, Health and Environment, The Arts, Events and Recreation, Sports, Transport, Technology, Welfare and Safety. Meeting 4/6/10 Issues discussed:
